The Original Christian Speed-Filmmaking Competition, the 168 Film Project is entering its 2nd decade of success. As the name implies, teams have a week (168 hours) to shoot and edit a short inspirational film based on a verse from Scripture that is related to the announced Theme.
The Christian Screenwriting Competition, Write of Passage allows screenwriters to develop their skills in a 168 hour window. Participants compete for cash and prizes.
168 Film's competitons are unique among speed-filmmaking competitions in a number of ways:
ALL CONTENT IS ORIGINAL, PRODUCED FOR THE EVENT. Whether a "Signature Film," documentary, or Write of Passage screenplay/Spotlight Film, this competition is all about filmmakers exercising their God-given creativity to tell compelling Christ-centered stories. No pre-written content is allowed.
ALL SCRIPTS ARE BASED ON A BIBLE VERSE AND BIBLICAL THEME. The assignment of verses is random, providing a challenge to writers as they wrestle with what God is saying to our media-saturated culture.
168 PROMOTES TEAMWORK, PRAYER AND EVANGELISM. Many participants have never been confronted with the truths of the Bible before, and the pressure of a tight deadline becomes a prime opportunity for team leaders to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their colleagues and witness miraculous answers to prayer.
IT IS OPEN TO ALL LEVELS OF TECHNICAL EXPERTISE. So you don't have a RED or Alexa? No problem. It's all about story, and being faithful to the intent of Scripture. 168 is a place where you can learn the craft of filmmaking with even the simplest of gear...and learn even more about what God is saying through his Word. Amateur or professional, sharpen your storytelling skills and make a film!
IT IS OPEN TO ALL LEVELS OF FAITH. Yes we intend for the finished films to have a Christian viewpoint, but we encourage producers, crew and actors of all faiths (or no faith) to participate, if only for the thrill of delivering an excellent film in a week.
