The contest is now in the programming phase. A team of writers, directors, studio executives and post-production experts will judge the films on a 100-point scale for technical and artistic merit.
The programmers will monitor rules violations such as gratuitous content and runtimes over the 10-minute limit. Of 152 submissions, approximately 80 films will be honored as Official Selections to the 168 Film Festival (selections to be announced by June 26).
According to 168 Director John David Ware, "It is a difficult task to judge between such amazing entries. Submissions are double our biggest year and that means the bar is raised higher then ever before."
